A recent article in the New York Times about Dr Gardiner Harris stated that psychiatrists can’t make enough money with regular “talk therapy”. Dr. Harris stated that he treats 1200 people now in mostly 15 minute visits for prescription adjustments.
A 2005 government survey found that just 11 percent of psychiatrists provided talk therapy to all patients.
one excerpt from this article . . .
He could have accepted less money and could have provided time to patients even when insurers did not pay, but, he said, “I want to retire with the lifestyle that my wife and I have been living for the last 40 years.”
Wow, isn’t this great – he is more concerned about his lifestyle than truly helping people get well.
Another example of the health care system totally broken.

Have you been easily prescribed for antidepressant drugs? Have you noticed that they didn’t work for you?
Here is a research report for you – The Emperor’s New Drugs: An Analysis of Antidepressant Medication Data Submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Prevention & Treatment by the American Psychological Association, reveals amazing evidence that antidepressants don’t really work.
The study analyzed the six most widely prescribed antidepressants (SSRI) approved between 1987 and 1999: fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft), venlafaxine (Effexor), nefazodone (Serzone), and citalopram (Celexa).
The study concluded that the difference between the drug and a placebo is relatively small and its clinical significance is dubious. Therefore “there may be little justification for the clinical use of these medications”.

Suicide rates have now DOUBLED for children of 5-14 years old in the past generation and has been the third leading cause of death for well over a generation.
Last year 15 million prescriptions were written for (SSRI) antidepressants for children and teenagers.
Do you think there is a correlation?
Recently the (FDA) acknowledged an increased suicide risk associated with children taking (SSRI) antidepressants.
More children and youth (ages 5-24 years) have committed suicide in the past ten years than the total number of American combat lives lost in the ten year Vietnam War (est. 55,000 v 47,355), yet little or no public attention has been given to this reality and what it represents.
The mental health of our children is worse off today than it was 50 years ago. But for years the National Institute of Health (NIH) has been following a biomedical model that seeks a drug to solve every problem. It’s clearly been a massive failure.

Are doctors just “legal” drug pushers? You sure might think so. According to a new database created by ProPublica, seven drug companies paid $282 million to more than 17,000 doctors during 2009-2010.
The drug companies included in the database are:
1- AstraZeneca
2- Cephalon
3- GlaxoSmithKline
4- Johnson&Johnson
5- Merck
6- Pfizer
7- Eli Lilly
This is just a small portion of the whole drug industry.
Pharmaceutical sales are now over $300 Billion a year!
In California, about 3,000 doctors received an estimated $28.6 million in payments from pharmaceutical companies for speeches promoting brand-label drugs to fellow doctors, the report said.
The ProPublica investigation found that more than a dozen of Stanford University doctors were paid speakers in apparent violation of the school policy.
Violators include Alan Yeung, Stanford’s chief of cardiovascular medicine, who was paid $53,000 from Eli Lilly & Co.
Child psychiatrist Hans Steiner was paid $109,000 by Eli Lilly to deliver talks about Strattera, a drug for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Did you know that only the USA and New Zealand allows drug ads on TV. I hope everyone wakes up and realizes that they are being conned into believing that they need a drug for just about every ailment there is.

Recent research published in the European Journal of Immunology, reveals why marijuana users are more susceptible to certain types of cancers and infections by suppressing the body’s immune functions.
The research, led by Dr Prakash Nagarkatti from the University of South Carolina, focused their research on cannabinoids, a group of compounds found inside the cannabis plant, including THC (delta-9 tetahydrocannabinol).
While most immune cells fight against infections and cancers to protect the host, a unique type of immune cell, myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) actively suppress the immune system. The presence of these cells is known to increase in cancer patients and it is believed that MDSCs may suppress the immune system against cancer therapy and actually promote cancer growth.

Parents beware – there are dozens of products today that are being sold as herbal smoking blends, marijuana alternatives or fake pot. Some of the brand names of the synthetic marijuana products include: K2, Blaze, Skunk, and Spice.
Synthetic marijuana is a mixture of dried leaves from traditional herbal plants. There are various colors including green, brown, blonde and red. Typically they are sold in small packets approximately 2 by 3 inches. The packets are foil packs or plastic zip bags.
What Are the Chemicals in Synthetic Marijuana?
Originally, the fake marijuana products contained a chemical called HU-210, which has a molecular structure very similar to THC — the active ingredient in marijuana. Because HU-210 is listed as a Schedule 1 controlled substance in the United States, the fake weed products were manufactured and sold only in Europe.
Recently, two new synthetic cannabinoid agonists have been created that are not similar in structure to THC and therefore not listed as controlled substances. By using CP 47,497 and JWH-018 in the synthetic marijuana mixtures, manufacturers are able to legally market their products in the United States.
There have been no studies conducted on what effects the fake marijuana may have on the body and brain.
